At Least 8 Injured, Including 4 Children, in Brooklyn Shooting During Fourth of July Fireworks

New York — At least eight people, including four children, were injured in a shooting that erupted during a Fourth of July fireworks display in Brooklyn’s Coney Island neighborhood on Saturday night.
Gunshots rang out around 10:30 p.m. local time near 2930 W. 30th St., close to Surf Avenue and the boardwalk where the fireworks had just taken place. Police responded quickly to the scene outside Seapark Apartments, with officers seen carrying wounded children in their arms.

Victims
The victims include:
- Four boys aged 14, 12, 7, and 6
- Two men aged 37 and 33
- Two women aged 25 and 21
The 21-year-old woman is in critical condition, while the other seven victims are reported to be in stable condition. All victims were transported to local hospitals.

Eyewitness Accounts
A deli worker near the scene told the New York Post that he saw police running with children in their hands and confirmed multiple kids were loaded into ambulances.
Local resident Mackenzie expressed sadness over the incident, saying:
“It’s so sad they won’t enjoy themselves without them killing each other.”
Another witness noted that authorities found a book bag containing a gun under nearby trees. The exact number of suspects and the motive behind the shooting remain unclear.
The New York Police Department confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
