Our Sweet Noah’s First 4th of July

Our sweet, sweet boy had his very first 4th of July.

I haven’t been able to see him in person, so I used AI to make his pictures look like we did something special and fancy for the holiday. And honestly… they did not disappoint. Seeing him like that, even through edited pictures, made my heart feel a little lighter.

As for Noah’s update, he has been stable overall, but early this morning the on-call team called me around 5:30 AM. And if they call before I do, I already know it usually isn’t great news.

Noah’s lactate suddenly went way up again to 9.8, and after they tried taking him off the temperature control blanket, he spiked a fever of 39.6°C. Because of that, they had to paralyze him again. His blood pressure also went high, and I honestly feel like it may have been because his sedation wasn’t increased quickly enough and he got really upset.

He is completely off Midazolam now, which was kind of his “sweet spot” medicine. Right now he is only on Dilaudid, and they had already started weaning that down yesterday afternoon.

They also placed him on a 24-hour EEG just to make sure they are checking every possible box. He has been moving his head back and forth a lot more too, so they want to be extra careful. So far, nothing concerning has shown up, which we are very thankful for.

I swear this boy only decides to act up during the five hours I actually sleep.

When I called again around 5, I spoke with his nurse, and thankfully his lactate had already come back down to normal. He was back to being his calm, chill little self.

On top of everything, we are now officially down both cars, so fingers crossed we can figure something out soon. Or maybe Ford can finally do what is right and fix it already.

One day at a time. One prayer at a time. Our boy is still fighting, and we are still believing.
