Photos capturing the unforgettable moment a 12-year-old girl helped doctors welcome her baby brother into the world, have touched thousands of people online.

When her mother was taken into the delivery room, 12-year-old Jacee Dellapena, from Jackson, Mississippi, asked the medical team at Baptist Hospital if she could stay by her mother’s side and witness the birth of her baby brother.

According to Jacee’s mother, Dede Carraway, her daughter had wanted to be in the delivery room two years earli

er when her second son, Zaydn, was born. At the time, however, Jacee was considered too young, so her parents decided not to let her attend.

Knowing this would be her final pregnancy, Dede agreed to let Jacee be present for the birth. She even asked the doctors if her daughter could help deliver the baby with her own hands.

When she heard her mother’s request, Jacee was stunned.

“What? No way!” she exclaimed.

Despite her initial reaction, Jacee put on a hospital gown and gloves before joining the medical team to help bring her baby brother into the world.

“I was really nervous. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to do it. But in the end, it was the most beautiful moment of my life,” Jacee recalled. “At first, I thought it would be like playing doctor, but this was real—100% real. It was absolutely amazing.”

Her father, Zack, captured the entire experience in a series of photographs. Throughout the delivery, Dr. Wolf carefully guided Jacee’s hands, even helping her cut the umbilical cord.

After Zack shared the photos on social media, Jacee’s priceless expression of joy quickly won the hearts of viewers.

“When I saw the look on her face, I couldn’t hold back my tears. It was such an incredible moment for me,” Dede said.

Reflecting on the experience, Jacee added, “I really loved helping bring my little brother into the world. I’d played doctor before, but this time it was real—completely real. I was so nervous.”

The healthy baby boy, who weighed just over 3 kilograms (about 6.6 pounds) at birth, was named Cayson.
