BREAKING NEWS – Oklahoma Mother, 34, Faces Up to Seven Consecutive Life Sentences After Jury Convicts Her of Enabling Husband’s Abuse of Her 11-Year-Old Daughter

Muskogee County, Oklahoma – In a verdict that has stunned the community, a jury on July 17, 2026, found Cherie Dawn Walker, 34, guilty of one count of enabling child sexual abuse and six counts of felony child neglect.

Jurors recommended a life sentence for each of the seven counts — potentially seven consecutive life sentences. Formal sentencing by Judge Timothy King is still pending.

Just weeks earlier, her husband, Dustin Joel Walker, 35, was sentenced to life in prison plus an additional 42 years after pleading guilty to sexually abusing the same 11-year-old girl and multiple counts of child neglect.

How the case came to light

In August 2025, the 11-year-old girl gave birth to a full-term baby at the family’s home with no medical assistance, no prenatal care, and no doctor present.

When authorities responded, they found the girl and her five younger siblings — ages 2, 4, 6, 7, and 9 — living in conditions described as “deplorable” and “uninhabitable.” The home was filled with dog feces and animal waste, lacked running water, and the children were found without clothing.

DNA testing later confirmed with near-certainty that Dustin Walker was the baby’s father.

Prosecutors said Cherie Walker knew her husband was abusing her daughter and failed to protect her or the other children.

Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson has repeatedly called the case one of the most severe child sexual abuse and neglect cases she has ever handled.

At earlier hearings she stated that the young victim had endured a “horrific ordeal” — becoming pregnant and then giving birth at home without any medical help — and that the trauma would affect her for the rest of her life.

Current status

• All six children have been removed from the home and placed in protective custody.
• The victim’s grandmother, Michelle Justus, also faces child-neglect charges and is scheduled for trial.
• Dustin Walker is already serving his life-plus-42-years sentence.
