Suspects Detained as Investigation into Russian Siblings’ Disappearance Intensifies

Thai authorities have detained two suspects as the investigation into the disappearance and deaths of two Russian siblings enters a critical stage, with investigators working to determine the full sequence of events surrounding the case.

According to police, officers from Provincial Police Region 2 tracked down the suspects, identified only as Pong and Thong, at a longan orchard following an extensive search. The pair were taken into custody for questioning after investigators gathered evidence linking them to the case.

Authorities allege that the victims, a 22-year-old woman and her 17-year-old brother from Russia, disappeared after traveling together on a motorcycle. Their sudden disappearance prompted an intensive investigation involving local police and forensic specialists.

During preliminary questioning, one suspect reportedly admitted to fatally shooting the teenage boy, while investigators allege the older sister was beaten to death. Police believe the motive may have been robbery, with the siblings’ motorcycle allegedly targeted during the attack. Officials stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and that all allegations must be tested in court.

Detectives are continuing to gather forensic evidence, review surveillance footage, and reconstruct the victims’ final movements. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that additional individuals may have been involved and said further arrests could be made if new evidence emerges.
