For Davido, some of the most memorable signs of success have nothing to do with packed arenas, international tours or charting records. Sometimes, they happen during something as ordinary as picking his daughters up from school.

The 33-year-old Afrobeats star says his older daughters have reached an age where their friends know exactly who their father is—and that has created a new, amusing dynamic in his family life. Arriving at school in a Lamborghini or Rolls-Royce can suddenly turn an everyday pickup into a moment his daughters are proud to share with their friends.

“My kids love me so much,” Davido said while reflecting on his relationship with his children. His two oldest daughters, he explained, were born when he was still very young, and watching them grow into teenagers while his own career has reached extraordinary heights has given fatherhood an entirely different meaning.

Behind that playful image, however, is a much larger story about how one of Afrobeats’ most recognizable stars manages the demands of being a father of six while maintaining a career that regularly takes him around the world.

Davido shares three children with his longtime partner and wife, Chioma Rowland. He is also the father of daughters Aurora Imade and Hailey Veronica and son Dawson from previous relationships.

His family has experienced both enormous joy and profound heartbreak. Davido and Rowland lost their first son, David Ifeanyi, in a drowning accident in 2022. In 2023, the couple welcomed twins, beginning another chapter in their family’s life.

Now, Davido says the people closest to him have become essential to the way he approaches both fatherhood and music.

That influence can be heard in the environment surrounding his newest studio album, “Oriadé,” released July 31.

Earlier in his career, Davido was accustomed to making music with large groups of people around him. This time, the atmosphere was much more intimate. His studio is inside the home where he lives with his family, allowing him to work with a small group that might include only a producer, an engineer and one or two friends.

Instead of the energy created by a crowded studio, the album took shape with his children nearby and family life unfolding around him.

For Davido, that change brought something different to the recording process: a sense of happiness and affection that came from creating music at home.

But having a studio under the same roof as his family does not mean the boundaries between work and parenting disappear.

Davido said he deliberately tries to keep those two parts of his life separate when he needs to concentrate. His children generally stay away from the studio during serious recording sessions because their presence can make it difficult for him to remain fully focused.

The reason is simple: when his family is around, they immediately become his priority.

That separation changes when it is time to perform.

His children enjoy joining him on tour, attending concerts and sometimes stepping onto the stage themselves. His daughters know his songs almost as soon as they are released, and Davido takes pride in knowing that they understand what their father is accomplishing.

Their relationship also extends far beyond music.

Davido says his daughters openly discuss their lives with him, including teenage crushes, and he offers advice about how they should handle different situations. That openness appears to be particularly meaningful for a father whose profession requires so much time away from home.

The challenge is significant.

Over the past year, Davido completed 42 dates on his 5ive Alive Tour, traveling through 12 countries on four continents. He also made his Coachella debut in April and joined Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado on “No Place Like Home,” a track featured on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack album.

A schedule filled with concerts, travel, interviews and other professional obligations inevitably means there are times when Davido cannot be physically present with his children.

That is where he says the women in his family have become indispensable.

Davido praised the mothers of his children for caring for them while he is traveling. He reserved particular appreciation for Rowland, describing how she handles responsibilities at home while also overseeing finances and making sure things continue to run properly during his absences.

For the singer, that support provides stability when his career pulls him elsewhere.

“I got a good partner,” he said, describing his wife as one of the most important parts of his life.

Davido and Rowland’s relationship stretches back more than a decade. In 2024, they celebrated a traditional wedding in Lagos, Nigeria, before holding an elaborate white wedding in Miami the following August.

Their years together have included major highs as well as deeply painful periods, but Davido says marriage has brought greater balance to his life.

He believes people often have one particular person who helps keep them grounded. For some, that person might be a parent or a best friend. In Davido’s case, he says it is his wife.

Since marrying Rowland, he feels the different pieces of his life have become more stable.

That stability has become increasingly important as his public profile continues to expand. Davido’s career places him in front of enormous audiences around the world, but his comments about fatherhood reveal another measure of success—being present enough that his children feel comfortable sharing their private lives with him and excited enough to sing his songs beside him.

There is also an interesting reversal taking place as his older children grow up.

Davido became a father when he was young. Now those daughters are old enough to understand the scale of his career for themselves. They see the concerts, hear the music and encounter classmates who are fans of their father.

For Davido, those experiences appear to have transformed celebrity into something unexpectedly personal.
