Authorities Rescue 17 Abandoned Puppies from Bay Area Walmart Parking Lot

LIVERMORE, California – Seventeen puppies were found by a kind person in the parking lot of a Walmart supermarket in Livermore on Wednesday without their owner. According to a press release from the East Bay Society for the Protection of Animals (SPCA), the person witnessed one puppy being hit and killed by a car.
The remaining puppies, estimated to be about 9 weeks old and Border Collie mixes, were taken to the East Bay SPCA’s Dublin and Oakland branches for health and behavior checks.

What we know:
The East Bay SPCA conducted health and behavior checks on the puppies.
They found that the puppies were generally healthy, but needed medical care such as spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, and microchipping before they could be adopted.

The press release stated that the East Bay SPCA’s behavioral specialists will also help develop their social skills.
The identity of this kind person remains unknown, as does the reason why the puppies were left in the parking lot.
