Bank of America Vice President Erin Piacenti Fatally Stabbed in Random Times Square Attack

Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old Vice President at Bank of America, was fatally stabbed in what police described as a random and unprovoked attack in New York City’s Times Square on August 31, 2026.

Piacenti’s identity was confirmed by Reuters, The Associated Press and other major news outlets following the deadly attack.

The tragedy came just as Piacenti was returning to her professional life after taking approximately five months of maternity leave. Reports indicated that August 31 was her first day back at work.

Piacenti and her husband had recently welcomed a baby girl, who was approximately five months old at the time of her death. Sources described her as a devoted mother who was on her way home from work when she was attacked.

Police identified the suspect as Pamela Cisneros, 49. Authorities said Cisneros had previously stabbed a 68-year-old man before encountering Piacenti.

When officers arrived at the scene, police said Cisneros was armed with two knives and advanced toward them. Officers opened fire, and Cisneros was subsequently pronounced dead.

The attack has left Piacenti’s family, colleagues and loved ones mourning the loss of a young mother whose return to work ended in unimaginable tragedy.

Bank of America confirmed Piacenti’s employment with the company and her position as a Vice President.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
