Tragedy at Minnesota Daycare: Mother and 7-Year-Old Daughter Die

Minnesota Daycare Owner and 7-Year-Old Daughter Killed in Attack; Husband Dies by Suicide
A devastating tragedy at a home-based daycare in Hopkins, Minnesota, left a daycare owner and her 7-year-old daughter dead while several children were present inside the home.
According to reports, 41-year-old Kristen Brown, owner of Brown Bear Daycare, and her daughter, 7-year-old Evie Brown, were killed in an attack allegedly carried out by Kristen’s husband, 41-year-old Nathan Brown.
Authorities said a screwdriver was used in the attack.

A parent who arrived to drop off a child reportedly witnessed part of the incident and alerted police, prompting officers to respond to the daycare.
Police rescued six other children who were inside the home. The children were reportedly unharmed.
Nathan Brown was identified by authorities as the suspected perpetrator. He subsequently died by suicide, according to reports.
The investigation also expanded to Burnsville, Minnesota, where Nathan’s mother, 78-year-old Alice Brown, was found dead on the same day. Police have reportedly linked her death to the broader sequence of events involving Nathan.

The tragedy has left the local community devastated, particularly because the attack occurred at a place where families had entrusted Kristen with the care of their children.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Kristen, Evie, and Alice, as well as what led to the violence.
The six children who survived the daycare incident were safely removed from the home, but the traumatic event has deeply affected everyone connected to the daycare and the Brown family.
