A disturbing incident involving food left for stray cats in Chester, Pennsylvania, has taken a new turn after a woman was reportedly charged in connection with the case.

Back in April, a video circulated online that allegedly showed 35-year-old Lauren Carter pouring bleach onto food placed for stray cats near Rose Street.

The footage quickly sparked concern among animal lovers, particularly for the cats that regularly depended on the feeding stations.

One of those cats was Jumper, an older feline who was seen near the food and became a particular focus of worry.

Thankfully, Jumper was later found safe at home and appeared to be unharmed.

His owner told Action News: “I appreciate everybody who stepped up because this is an old cat, and he deserves to die of old age. Not being tortured or poisoned.”

According to reports, Carter is now facing two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. Authorities say she admitted to police that she poured bleach onto the cat food.

Importantly, investigators have said there is currently no evidence that any animals actually consumed the affected food, and no animal injuries have been confirmed.

For Jumper’s family and those who cared for the neighborhood cats, that news brought a huge sense of relief.

Jumper may simply be an old community cat to some, but to the people who love him, he is a cherished life who deserves to spend his remaining years safely surrounded by care.

“He deserves to die of old age,” his owner said — a simple wish that now carries even more meaning for those who feared the worst.

The case remains under attention as animal advocates continue to call for accountability and stronger protection for stray and community cats.
