Lindsay Clancy Trial: Husband Recounts the Horrific Night for the First Time

The murder trial of Lindsay Clancy took an emotional turn as her former husband, Patrick Clancy, testified before a Massachusetts jury, describing in heartbreaking detail the events of the night their three young children died.

Patrick told jurors that on the evening of January 24, 2023, he left the family’s Duxbury home after Lindsay asked him to pick up takeout food and prescription medication. He testified that nothing about their interactions before he left suggested the tragedy that was about to unfold.

When Patrick returned home, he said the house was unusually quiet. He testified that he found Lindsay outside after she had fallen from a second-story window in what prosecutors say was an apparent suicide attempt. According to his testimony, Lindsay told him the children were in the basement.

Patrick then described discovering the bodies of the couple’s three children—5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan. Jurors also heard the emotional 911 call Patrick made as he desperately sought emergency assistance for his family.

During his testimony, Patrick also discussed Lindsay’s mental health in the months leading up to the tragedy. He told the jury that she had been receiving psychiatric treatment, had been prescribed several medications, and had spoken about intrusive thoughts. His testimony is central to the defense’s argument that Lindsay was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings.
