– A suspected drunk driver has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for a crash that killed three Baird teens in May 2024.

Ashlie Haynes was sentenced to 15 years on each count, with the sentences to run consecutively, for a total of 45 years in prison. She was sentenced on Wednesday after pleading guilty to 3 counts of Intoxication Manslaughter in Callahan County in June for the deaths of Layni Potter, 18, Madi Buchanan, 18, and Ryan Bilby, 16.

Investigators say five teens, including the deceased, were in a car that was stopped at a stop sign on Peyton Road and West 3rd Street when they failed to yield the right of way and pulled out in front of Haynes, who was driving south into the intersection.

Three of the teens were ejected upon impact. The driver and one of the passengers survived after receiving treatment at the hospital.

Haynes was treated at the scene for minor injuries. She was then arrested for Driving While Intoxicated when a breath analysis indicated her blood alcohol level was over the legal limit.
