The Inspiring Journey of Madison Marsh: F-16 Pilot, Harvard Scholar, Pancreatic Cancer Advocate, and Historic Miss America Winner

At just 22 years old, Madison Marsh had already achieved what most spend a lifetime striving for. A 2023 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in physics focused on astronomy, she was commissioned as a second lieutenant and earned a coveted pilot training position, even taking flight aboard an F-16D Fighting Falcon. Yet, her ambition did not stop at the skies. She chose to defer pilot training to pursue a master’s degree in public policy at the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School, balancing her academic rigor with active military service.

Behind these extraordinary achievements lay a profound personal heartbreak. When Madison was only 17, her mother, Whitney, passed away from pancreatic cancer at the young age of 41. Driven by grief and a desire to make a lasting impact, Madison and her family established the Whitney Marsh Foundation, channeling their grief into raising critical funds and awareness for pancreatic cancer research.

Her journey reached a groundbreaking milestone in January 2024, when Madison made history as the first active-duty military service member to be crowned Miss America.
