HUMAN REMAINS FOUND JUST 15 MILES FROM NANCY GUTHRIE’S HOME — POLICE SAY NO LINK TO HER CASE SO FAR

A new discovery in the Arizona desert has put the Nancy Guthrie investigation back under the spotlight.

Human remains were found approximately 15 miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

But authorities are urging the public not to assume the discovery is connected to Nancy’s disappearance.

WHAT POLICE ARE SAYING

The remains were discovered in a desert area near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard in southwest Tucson.

According to authorities, the remains appear to have been at the location for an extended period of time.

Most importantly, investigators said there is no indication at this time that they are connected to the Nancy Guthrie investigation.

That means the discovery is being investigated separately unless evidence emerges establishing a connection.

NANCY HAS BEEN MISSING FOR MONTHS

Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared from her Arizona home after she was last seen on January 31.

Investigators have treated the disappearance as a kidnapping, with surveillance footage showing a masked individual approaching her home around the time she vanished.

Despite months of investigation, authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or established a confirmed motive.

Nancy Guthrie Person of Interest Update Takes Dramatic TurnANOTHER DISCOVERY — BUT NOT AN ANSWER

This is not the first time human remains or bones have been discovered relatively close to Nancy’s home.

Earlier this year, a human bone found several miles away was determined to be unrelated to the investigation and was treated as a prehistoric anthropological matter.

The latest discovery is different because authorities are actively responding to the scene and examining the remains.

But there is currently no evidence publicly connecting them to Nancy.

 COULD THAT CHANGE?

The identity of the person whose remains were discovered still needs to be established.

Investigators will need to determine:

Who the remains belong to

How long they had been at the location

How the person came to be there

Whether the circumstances surrounding the remains require further investigation

Only after those questions are answered could authorities determine whether there is any relevance to the Guthrie case.

For Nancy’s family, every discovery brings another wave of hope — followed by uncertainty.

The latest remains may ultimately have nothing to do with her disappearance.

But until authorities complete their examination, investigators will continue documenting what was found and determining whether any connection exists.

 HUMAN REMAINS HAVE BEEN FOUND.

THEY ARE ABOUT 15 MILES FROM NANCY’S HOME.

POLICE CURRENTLY SAY THERE IS NO INDICATION THEY ARE CONNECTED.

AND NANCY GUTHRIE’S DISAPPEARANCE REMAINS UNRESOLVED.

For now, this is a new investigative lead — not an answer.
