HORRIFIC SCENE AT MINNESOTA DAYCARE: FATHER ARRIVES TO DROP OFF CHILD AND WITNESSES DEADLY ATT@CK
HOPKINS, MINNESOTA — A routine morning daycare drop-off turned into a nightmare Wednesday when a Minnesota father reportedly walked into a scene of violence and found a man attacking a woman and a 7-year-old girl.
According to a search warrant, the father entered Brown Bear Childcare through a back door and heard children screaming.
He then reportedly saw 41-year-old Nathan Brown attacking his wife, 41-year-old Kristen Brown, and their 7-year-old daughter, Evie, in the basement.
A FATHER’S SPLIT-SECOND DECISION
The parent immediately grabbed his own child and two other children and fled the building before calling 911.
Six other children were also inside the daycare.
Fortunately, authorities said the children were safely evacuated and none of them were physically injured.
Officers arrived and found Kristen, Evie and Nathan dead.
Police allege Nathan attacked his wife and daughter before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
INVESTIGATORS FIND ANOTHER VICTIM
The investigation has also expanded beyond the daycare.
Police believe Nathan may have killed his 78-year-old mother, Alice Brown, at her home in Burnsville before going to the childcare facility.
She was reportedly found dead from an apparent stabbing.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the sequence of events and what led to the violence.
FAMILY PROBLEMS HAD BEEN REPORTED
Investigators say Kristen had planned to close the daycare approximately two weeks before the killings, reportedly because of ongoing “relationship issues” involving Nathan.
That detail has become an important part of the investigation as detectives work to understand what happened before the deadly attack.
A COMMUNITY IN SHOCK
Hopkins Police Chief Brent Johnson described the situation as an unimaginable nightmare for any parent.
The fact that children were present when the violence occurred has left the local community shaken.
One father arrived expecting to drop off his child.
Instead, he found himself trying to protect three children at once.
His quick decision to get them out may have prevented an even greater tragedy.
THREE LIVES LOST
Kristen.
Evie.
Alice.
Three members of a family are dead, while investigators work to reconstruct the events that led to the violence.
The children who survived were physically unharmed, but the psychological impact of witnessing or being near such a traumatic event could be profound.
A place parents trusted to keep their children safe became the scene of an unimaginable tragedy. 🕊️
Police allegations remain part of the ongoing investigation. The circumstances surrounding the deaths have not been fully established in court.
