TWO TEEN BEST FRIENDS KILLED IN HORRIFIC THREE-CAR CRASH JUST MINUTES FROM HOME
VICTORVILLE, CALIFORNIA — Two Southern California teenagers were killed in a devastating three-car crash Friday—just minutes from their homes and shortly after beginning what should have been an exciting final year of high school.
Isabell DeLand, 16, and Maddalyn Dailey, 17, were described by loved ones as inseparable best friends.
A CRASH THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
According to reports, Maddalyn was driving an Acura TL when the vehicle was struck while turning onto Ridgecrest Road from Elmwood Drive.
The crash involved a Dodge Charger and a Chevy Camaro, with authorities alleging the other vehicles were traveling at high speeds. The impact was so severe that the Acura was reportedly split in half.
Both girls were killed.
THEY HAD JUST STARTED THEIR SENIOR YEAR
The tragedy came shortly after Isabell and Maddalyn began their senior year at Sultana High School.
Friends and family described the two girls as extremely close, having been friends since elementary school.
They were young, full of plans and looking ahead to graduation.
Instead, their families were suddenly left planning funerals.
INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
Authorities say the drivers of the other vehicles were acquainted.
According to reports, the driver of the Dodge was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, while investigators are still searching for the driver of the Camaro, who allegedly fled the scene.
A child was reportedly left behind after the Camaro driver fled.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities will ultimately determine what led to the collision and whether additional charges are warranted.
TWO LIVES, ONE DEVASTATING LOSS
Isabell and Maddalyn were more than the victims of a crash.
They were best friends.
They were daughters.
They were students who had just started their senior year.
And they were supposed to have had so much more time.
A few minutes from home, two families lost two young women who should have been getting ready for graduation—not funerals.
The allegations against the surviving drivers remain allegations. The investigation is ongoing.
