Temple boy injured after running into path of vehicle; GoFundMe set up to help family

A 7-year-old remains hospitalized with multiple fractures after an auto-pedestrian accident Friday in Temple.

KWTX confirmed with the Temple Police Department that officers were dispatched around 9:20 p.m. to the 4800 block of South 31st Street for a traffic accident.

Upon arrival, officers learned a child was struck after running into the path of a vehicle. The driver called 911 for help, police said.

Officers confirmed Carson Marshall sustained multiple injuries and transported him to the hospital for precautionary evaluation

Carson’s mother, Sadie Morey, contacted KWTX and shared Carson was walking home with his father when the accident happened.

KWTX reached out to a witness, Emily Pursche, who helped Carson moments after the accident happened.

“Another female, male, my husband and I started to work on him. We started to rip off his shirt, held his hand, get him to respond, and let us know [or] hear him say something. He yelled out his back hurts, and that he was bleeding,” Pursche said.

According to his mom, Carson sustained multiple injuries including: a fractured skull, leg broken in two places, laceration to his liver, fractured orbital socket, laceration on his back and bruises and abrasions throughout his body.

Carson is expected to be in a wheelchair for some time, according to his mother. The boy will also require ultrasound and x-rays every two weeks to monitor his skull fracture and lacerated liver.

Morey said her son is conscious, but in a lot of pain.
