An Ohio doctor who studied teenage killers was murdered in a plot allegedly involving his 18-year-old daughter.

Ohio Doctor Shot Dead in Home as Daughter and Two Others Face Charges

Dr. Tamela Dutcher, 55, a physician from Delaware County, Ohio, was shot and killed inside her home on August 14, 2026, according to authorities.

Her 18-year-old daughter, Bryanna Dutcher, is accused of plotting the killing following an argument with her parents over household chores. Bryanna’s boyfriend, 20-year-old Christian Evans, and his roommate, 21-year-old Dajameous Payne, have also been charged in connection with the case.

According to police records, Tamela was shot in the face. Her husband was also shot during the incident but survived.

One particularly notable detail is Tamela’s professional background. She had previously co-authored a 2002 study examining violent and homicidal adolescents, focusing on violent behavior among young people who committed or were at risk of committing homicide.

The case has drawn attention because of the contrast between Tamela’s professional work studying youth violence and the allegations surrounding her own daughter’s involvement in her death.

The charges against Bryanna, Evans, and Payne are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The investigation and legal proceedings remain ongoing.
