Forty-six years after Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson stood beside their wedding cake as newlyweds, the couple returned to that moment with two very different anniversary tributes — one nostalgic, the other playful.

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, Samuel, 77, and LaTanya, 76, celebrated nearly half a century of marriage by sharing personal glimpses of their life together. Samuel reached all the way back to their 1980 wedding, while LaTanya chose candid images that captured the humor, affection and partnership that have followed them through the decades.

Samuel’s anniversary post centered on a photograph from their wedding day. In the image, the future Hollywood star and his bride stand smiling next to their wedding cake, long before his career would make him one of the most recognizable actors in the world.

His message was brief but deeply personal. Addressing LaTanya as “THE Mrs. LaTanya Richardson Jackson,” he told his wife that he loved her with everything he is.

Friends quickly joined the celebration. Julianne Moore, who worked with the couple on Freedomland, wished them a happy anniversary, while Holly Robinson Peete enthusiastically congratulated them on reaching 46 years.

LaTanya Chose the Life Behind the Milestone
