AMBER Alert for 2 Ga. Sisters, Police Believe Babysitter Abducted Them

Two young sisters are missing in Georgia after police say they were abducted by their babysitter.

Norah Cooper, 11 months, and her 4-year-old sister, Zola Cooper, were reported critically missing after they were last seen with their babysitter, 42-year-old Lakesha Brown, according to bulletins issued by the Atlanta Police Department.

“The babysitter is believed to have abducted the children,” police said in the bulletins.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation subsequently issued a Levi’s Call, the state’s Amber Alert, for the sisters on behalf of Atlanta police.

According to the GBI, Norah and Zola were last seen with Brown at 356 James P. Brawley Drive NW at about 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15.

Investigators believe Brown may be traveling with the children in a 2009 white Ford F-350 with an Alabama license plate IC087Y4, according to the GBI.

The agency said the vehicle could be headed toward southwest Atlanta and that the girls are believed to be in “extreme danger.”

Norah, who has black hair and brown eyes, was last seen wearing a pink onesie, according to police. The 11-month-old is missing two fingers on her right hand, her index and middle fingers.

Zola also has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a multicolored dress, police said.

Atlanta police described Norah as 2 feet tall and weighing 28 lbs., while Zola is 3 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 42 lbs.

Brown may have previously faced a kidnapping allegation in Alabama. Atlanta police confirmed to FOX 5 that they believe she is the same woman who was arrested on a kidnapping charge in Jefferson County, Ala., in 2021. The outcome of that case was not immediately clear.

Anyone who sees the children is asked to call 911 or the Atlanta Police Department at 470-218-5001. Atlanta police also asked anyone with information to contact their Special Victims Unit at 404-546-4260 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
