SHE WALKED TO HER CAR — THEN VANISHED: POLICE NOW SUSPECT FOUL PLAY IN CHANTEL BROOKS CASE

For more than a month, 36-year-old Chantel “Cici” Brooks has been missing.

Now, investigators say they believe her disappearance may have involved foul play.

Chantel was last seen in the early morning hours of July 17 after finishing her overnight shift at a hotel in San Francisco.

At approximately 12:20 a.m., surveillance footage captured her leaving work.

About 85 minutes later, she appeared on another camera in Fairfield, California, leaving a CVS on East Travis Boulevard and walking toward her vehicle.

That was the last confirmed sighting of her.

Chantel was driving a black 2021 Infiniti QX50 SUV.

Police say the vehicle was later detected by a Flock automated license-plate camera in Oakland.

But investigators have not found the SUV.

And they still have not found Chantel.

Her family says the disappearance is completely out of character. Her brothers have continued searching, putting up flyers and pleading for anyone with information to come forward.

That is the question investigators have not yet answered publicly.

Fairfield police said the conclusion was based on what detectives have uncovered during their investigation.

Authorities have since:

• Executed dozens of search warrants
• Conducted multiple coordinated ground searches
• Used search-and-rescue resources
• Carried out extensive aerial drone searches
• Worked with the Solano County District Attorney’s Office on the case

Despite all of those efforts, police have not publicly explained what specific evidence led them to believe Chantel’s disappearance involved foul play.

HER FAMILY IS STILL WAITING

Chantel’s brothers say they simply want their sister home.

They have continued searching and raising awareness while investigators work through leads.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen Chantel, her SUV, or anything unusual around the time she disappeared to contact investigators.

The case remains active.

And now, more than a month after Chantel vanished, investigators have made one thing clear:

They no longer believe this is simply a missing-person case.

Someone may know what happened to Chantel Brooks.

The question is:

WHO KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED AFTER SHE WALKED TOWARD HER CAR?

Police have not announced an arrest or identified a suspect. The circumstances surrounding Chantel Brooks’ disappearance remain under investigation.
