The disappearance of 63-year-old Alisa Goods has ended in a heartbreaking discovery after Las Vegas police found her body in a drainage ditch near Harry Reid International Airport.
Goods, a New York grandmother of five, had been visiting a longtime friend in Las Vegas. On August 8, she left the apartment to go shopping and never returned. Her family reported her missing two days later.
A HAUNTING SURVEILLANCE VIDEO
Investigators reviewing airport surveillance footage discovered what appears to show Goods’ final known moments.
According to police, the footage shows her falling down an embankment, getting back up, and then collapsing again on August 8.
Authorities said there was no further movement observed after she collapsed, and the area where she fell could not be seen from the street.
Her body was eventually discovered early on August 20, nearly two weeks after she disappeared.
THE MYSTERY OF THE PHONE
The case became even more alarming when Goods’ family said they began receiving messages from her phone after she disappeared.
The messages reportedly requested help, gas money and Bitcoin, leading relatives to fear that someone else had access to the phone.
Police have since indicated that the people responsible for those messages were not connected to Goods’ disappearance, describing them as unrelated “bad actors.”
HER FINAL HOURS REMAIN UNCLEAR
Goods had recently undergone several surgeries on her legs, according to her family, and had difficulty walking during the Las Vegas trip.
However, authorities have not publicly released her official cause or manner of death.
That leaves several questions unanswered:
Why did Goods end up near the airport?
What happened between the time she left her friend’s apartment and when she reached the embankment?
And could the surveillance footage ultimately help investigators reconstruct her final hours?
