Parolee Identified as Suspect in Two Fatal New York Shootings 48 Hours Apart

Jesus Acosta, 31, a parolee, has been identified by New York police as the alleged suspect in two fatal shootings that occurred roughly 48 hours apart in Brooklyn and the Bronx.

The first shooting happened around midnight Sunday at America’s Best Wings and Pizza in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Police said 44-year-old employee MD Yousuf was shot in the head and killed. Another man, 39, was reportedly shot in the leg but survived.

About 48 hours later, at approximately 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, another robbery was reported at a deli in the Bronx. A 33-year-old male customer was shot in the chest and later died at a hospital.

Surveillance footage from the Bronx incident reportedly showed a suspect taking money from the register before fleeing the scene.

Police said Acosta was identified as the suspect in both shootings by his own parole officer.

Acosta previously served more than 10 years in prison for a 2015 shooting at a Manhattan subway station before being released on parole.

The allegations remain part of an ongoing investigation, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
