Carson Peters-Berger Pleads Guilty in Lily Peters Murder and Receives Life Sentence

Carson Peters-Berger, now 18, has pleaded guilty to the murder of his 10-year-old cousin, Lily Peters, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

Peters-Berger entered a guilty plea to first-degree intentional homicide on August 26, 2026. Judge Steven Gibbs subsequently sentenced him to life in prison, with the possibility of extended supervision after 25 years.

He was also credited with approximately four years already served since his arrest in 2022.

Peters-Berger was 14 years old when Lily was murdered in April 2022 and was prosecuted as an adult. The case shocked the Chippewa Falls community and drew widespread attention because of the victim’s young age and the family connection between the two.

As part of the plea agreement, two additional sexual assault charges were dismissed. However, those allegations were included in the court record for the judge to consider during sentencing.

The guilty plea brings a major legal development in a case that has remained in the public spotlight for more than four years. Peters-Berger will serve a life sentence, with the possibility of supervised release after meeting the 25-year eligibility period.
