COLLEGE STUDENT, 22, KILLED BY POLICE AFTER ALLEGEDLY GOING TO WRONG HOUSE

UPPER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 22-year-old college student was fatally shot by police early Sunday morning after allegedly going to the wrong home while returning from a night out with friends, according to authorities and his family.

Glenwood “Bubba” Pysher was killed around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 23 after officers responded to a 911 call reporting a possible attempted break-in at a residence on Snyder Road.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said officers found a man at the rear of the property. An encounter followed, and police fired, fatally striking him. The circumstances leading up to the encounter remain under investigation.

FAMILY SAYS HE WENT TO THE WRONG HOUSE

Pysher’s mother, Erin Pysher, told local media that her son had been celebrating a friend’s birthday at a bar before deciding to walk to a friend’s home.

According to his mother, Pysher had consumed several drinks and mistakenly believed he had reached the correct house.

She said he knocked on the door and called out, believing his friends were inside.

“He ended up at the wrong house,” Erin told WPVI, adding that her son did not realize his mistake at the time.

HIS FINAL MINUTES REMAIN UNDER INVESTIGATION

Erin said Pysher was communicating with friends by phone shortly before the encounter with police.

She recalled that the timeline unfolded within only a few minutes.

According to the family, Pysher was unarmed and carrying a cellphone and backpack.

Authorities have not publicly released a detailed account of what happened between officers’ arrival and the moment they fired. Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the officer-involved shooting.

HE WAS PREPARING TO RETURN TO COLLEGE

Pysher was a student at Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey and was preparing to return to campus when the tragedy occurred.

His family described him as cheerful, outgoing and deeply passionate about baseball.

His mother remembered him as a “lovable goofball” who frequently joked with his family.

He had been expected to return to college on Aug. 24, just one day after the fatal encounter.

INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

The Montgomery County Detective Bureau is investigating the shooting, following standard protocol for officer-involved incidents.

Authorities have not announced charges against any officer involved, and investigators have not publicly determined whether the shooting violated department policy or the law.

The investigation is expected to examine witness accounts, surveillance footage and other available evidence to reconstruct the encounter.

A FAMILY LEFT WAITING FOR ANSWERS

Pysher’s family has launched a fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses. More than $18,000 had reportedly been raised toward a $24,000 goal.

For his relatives, the questions now center on what happened during the brief period between the 911 call and the fatal encounter.
