Haven Renee was born into a world filled with love, but her time with her parents would be heartbreakingly brief.

On July 7, Haven’s heart stopped beating before she was born. Two days later, on July 9 at 1:09 a.m., her parents finally welcomed their little girl into the world and held her in their arms.

For her family, those first moments were filled with emotions no parent should ever have to face. They had imagined bringing their daughter home, watching her grow and celebrating all the ordinary milestones of childhood. Instead, they were given just 20 hours and 14 minutes to hold her, admire her, and memorize every precious detail.

And to them, Haven was perfect.

She had her mother’s big eyes and dimpled chin, her father’s wavy brown hair and the sweetest little button nose. Her parents treasured every second, knowing their time together was painfully limited.

“We have never been more in love,” her family shared. “Twenty hours and fourteen minutes will never feel like enough, but they will forever be some of the most precious hours of our lives.”

Although Haven’s journey was tragically short, her parents say they find comfort in knowing that their daughter knew nothing but warmth, safety and love. She heard their voices, listened to the lullabies her mother sang, felt their gentle touch and remained surrounded by the love of her mommy and daddy.

“Our arms ache because she is no longer here,” they said. “But our hearts will always be full because we are hers, and she is ours.”

For Haven’s parents, saying goodbye did not mean their love ended. They continue to carry every memory of their daughter with them — from the moment they first saw her face to every tiny detail they carefully memorized during those precious hours.

“To our baby girl, you are still our miracle,” her mother and father said. “You made us mommy and daddy, and we will love you for the rest of our lives.”

They now look for reminders of Haven in the world around them — in butterflies, pink sunsets and rainbows — holding onto the hope that one day they will be together again.

Haven may have spent only a short time in her parents’ arms, but in those 20 hours and 14 minutes, she changed their lives forever.
