TUCSON, Ariz. — More than six months after 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Arizona home, a newly resurfaced audio recording is drawing fresh attention to one of the most closely watched clues in the case.

The recording allegedly captures a dispatch call from Feb. 11, 2026, in which a woman reportedly said she had discovered a ski mask in an alley near her garage in Tucson — and claimed it looked similar to the mask worn by the mysterious figure seen outside Guthrie’s home.

But there is one major problem: authorities have not confirmed that the mask was connected to Guthrie’s disappearance.

THE MASK THAT BECAME A KEY CLUE

Guthrie, the mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her Catalina Foothills home in the early hours of Feb. 1.

The FBI later released surveillance images showing a masked individual on or near her porch. The person, dubbed “Porch Guy” online, was seen wearing a mask, gloves and carrying a backpack. Investigators described the individual as a potential subject in the case.

The footage quickly became one of the most recognizable pieces of evidence in the investigation.

Now, an alleged dispatch recording has reignited interest in the possibility that a similar mask may have been recovered elsewhere in Tucson.

WHAT THE AUDIO ALLEGEDLY SAYS

According to the recording reported by Hindustan Times, the call came from an address on East First Avenue in Tucson, roughly two hours from Guthrie’s home.

The recording reportedly includes a statement that the mask “looks like the same mask” worn by the assailant in the Nancy Guthrie case.

The recording has circulated online, but its authenticity and relevance to the investigation remain unclear.

AUTHORITIES HAVE NOT CONFIRMED THE DISCOVERY

The most important detail is that the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has disputed the claim.

A department spokesperson told Fox News Digital that officials had not been advised of such a discovery and therefore could not confirm it.

That means the alleged mask should not be treated as confirmed evidence in Guthrie’s disappearance.

There has also been no public announcement that investigators have linked the mask to the masked individual captured on Guthrie’s surveillance footage.

GUTHRIE HAS STILL NOT BEEN FOUND

Nancy Guthrie disappeared after being dropped off at her home following dinner with family on Jan. 31.

Investigators have treated the disappearance as an abduction, and the FBI became involved as the investigation expanded.

The surveillance footage released in February showed a masked person tampering with Guthrie’s doorbell camera shortly before she disappeared.

Despite months of searching and widespread public attention, Nancy has not been located and no suspect has been publicly identified.
