SAXONY, GERMANY — An eight-year-old boy suffered a traumatic brain injury after his mother allegedly forced him out of a moving vehicle and abandoned him naked in a freezing forest as punishment following a heated argument.
The disturbing incident happened on Nov. 30, 2025, in the Eastern Ore Mountains of Saxony, Germany, according to reports cited by The Sun. Prosecutors said the boy’s mother, identified as Susann S., 41, drove him deep into a wooded area before ordering him to remove his clothes and leave the vehicle.
Temperatures were around freezing, leaving the child alone in the dark and exposed to the cold.
BOY DESPERATELY TRIED TO GET BACK INTO THE CAR
According to prosecutors, the incident followed an argument between Susann and her son around bedtime.
The mother allegedly drove the boy into the mountains and ordered him out of the vehicle.
As the terrified child attempted to get back inside, he reportedly grabbed the door handle of the moving car.
He then lost his grip and fell onto the icy road, striking his head.
The mother subsequently turned the vehicle around and picked him up.
CHILD SUFFERED A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY
The boy was taken home, where he complained of pain.
Susann then sought assistance from an acquaintance who worked as a paramedic.
The injuries were serious.
The child suffered a traumatic brain injury, along with bruises and abrasions. He also experienced memory loss and spent four days in a hospital receiving treatment.
He has since been placed in a children’s home in Saxony.
MOTHER BREAKS DOWN IN COURT
Susann, a trained childcare worker, broke down in tears during her trial at Dippoldiswalde District Court.
Through her attorney, she described the incident as a “one-off exceptional situation” and insisted that she never intended to hurt her son.
Her lawyer argued that Susann had received very little support while raising the child as a single mother.
Susann is currently unemployed and receiving therapeutic treatment.
She also pleaded with the court for leniency, arguing that the consequences of the incident were already devastating because her son no longer lives with her.
JUDGE CALLS ABANDONMENT “PARTICULARLY EGREGIOUS”
The court ultimately rejected the request to avoid punishment.
Judge Xaver Seitz, sitting with two lay judges, sentenced Susann to nine months in prison, suspended.
The judge described the abandonment of the child as “particularly egregious.”
The court emphasized the terror the boy must have experienced while standing alone in a freezing forest, unsure whether his mother intended to return.
The suspended sentence means Susann will not immediately serve the prison term, subject to the conditions imposed by the court.
A CASE THAT RAISED SERIOUS QUESTIONS
The case has drawn attention not only because of the child’s injuries, but because of the circumstances surrounding the punishment.
Susann worked as a trained childcare professional, yet prosecutors said she subjected her own eight-year-old son to an extremely dangerous situation in freezing conditions.
Her defense maintained that she never intended to cause serious harm and that the incident occurred during an exceptional emotional crisis.
The court, however, found the decision to leave the child alone in the woods particularly serious.
THE CHILD IS NOW LIVING AWAY FROM HOME
Perhaps the most painful consequence of the incident is that the boy is no longer living with his mother.
After surviving the ordeal and receiving medical treatment, he was placed in a children’s home.
His physical injuries have become part of a much larger trauma — one that prosecutors and the court said could not be separated from the circumstances in which he was abandoned.
