73-YEAR-OLD CAMPER VANISHES IN THE ADIRONDACKS — HIS RV WAS FOUND, BUT HE WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND

A 73-year-old New York man has been missing for more than three weeks after authorities discovered his recreational vehicle abandoned at a remote campsite deep in the Adirondack Mountains.

Craig K. Streeter, of Mahopac, was last seen on August 2, 2026, at a Stewart’s Shop in Indian Lake, according to New York State Police.

Since then, there has been no confirmed contact with him.

HIS RV WAS STILL AT THE CAMPSITE

The search began after New York State Forest Rangers located Streeter’s RV at campsite 36 on Moose River Road in the town of Inlet.

But there was no obvious sign of recent activity around the vehicle.

Investigators determined that the RV belonged to Streeter, who was known to travel and camp in remote areas.

That lifestyle initially meant periods without contact were not necessarily unusual.

But this time, weeks passed without anyone hearing from him.

WHERE DID HE GO?

Police say Streeter was last seen wearing a dark-colored long-sleeved shirt and jeans before leaving the Stewart’s Shop in his RV.

His last known contact was August 2.

Authorities were notified of a possible missing person on August 17 after his RV was located.

Forest Rangers searched the area but could not locate Streeter, prompting additional law-enforcement agencies to join the search.

THE SEARCH CONTINUES

Multiple agencies are now involved in the effort to locate him.

Investigators are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have been camping or traveling along Moose River Road or nearby remote areas between August 2 and August 7.

Even a seemingly insignificant sighting could potentially help establish Streeter’s movements.

NO SIGNS OF FOUL PLAY REPORTED

Despite the circumstances, authorities have said there are currently no indications of foul play.

That has not stopped questions from mounting as the search continues.

Why did Streeter leave his RV?

Where was he headed?

Did he enter the surrounding wilderness on foot?

And did anyone encounter him after his last confirmed sighting?

Those questions remain unanswered.

A REMOTE WILDERNESS AND FEW CLUES

The Adirondacks contain vast areas of remote terrain, making searches especially challenging.

For Streeter’s family, every passing day brings another day without knowing where he is.

Police are now asking anyone who may have seen him, his RV or anything unusual in the area to come forward.

His RV has been found. His last known location is known. But Craig Streeter himself remains missing — and investigators are still trying to determine what happened after he disappeared into the Adirondacks.
