Bank of America Vice President, 32, Fatally Stabbed in Random Times Square Attack

A 32-year-old Bank of America executive and new mother was fatally stabbed in Times Square in what police believe was a random and unprovoked attack.

The victim was identified as Erin Piacenti, a lawyer who worked as a Vice President at Bank of America. She was attacked in Times Square, New York, on the afternoon of August 31, 2026.

Police have said there was no indication that Piacenti knew her attacker or that she had been specifically targeted.

New Mother Killed After Returning to Work

Piacenti was a new mother who had recently returned to work after taking approximately five months of maternity leave.

She had previously shared photographs with her husband and baby, making the sudden loss especially devastating for those who knew her.

According to authorities, Piacenti was one of two people attacked during the incident. A 68-year-old man was also stabbed and taken to the hospital. He was later reported to be in stable condition.

Suspect Shot by Police

The alleged attacker was identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros.

Police said Cisneros attacked Piacenti and the older man while armed with two knives. Officers subsequently confronted her and ordered her to drop the weapons.

When she allegedly refused and advanced toward officers while still armed, police deployed a Taser. Authorities said she continued moving toward them, prompting officers to open fire.

Cisneros was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

Police have characterized the attack as random, and authorities have said there is currently no indication that it was an act of terrorism.

Bank of America Mourns Employee

Bank of America confirmed that Piacenti was an employee and expressed its sorrow following her death.

Her killing has left colleagues, friends and family mourning a young professional and mother whose life was tragically cut short while she was in one of New York City’s busiest and most recognizable locations.
