Authorities are continuing to search for an Illinois man who disappeared in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park over a week ago.

Marcin Bachleda-Blaszczak was reported missing on the evening of Monday, Aug. 24, in the national park, which lies between North Carolina and Tennessee, officials with the National Park Service (NPS) said in a news release.

The department said that after the missing persons report was filed, Bachleda-Blaszczak’s vehicle was then found in the Sugarlands Visitor Center parking lot.

“Based on the investigation to date, his last known location was the Sugarlands Visitor Center parking lot on Aug. 22,” the NPS said.

His family told ABC affiliate WLS that police have located Bachleda-Blaszczak’s wallet and cellphone.

Bachleda-Blaszczak is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 170 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes.

The NPS said a search team consisting of 57 park rangers and volunteers is currently looking in areas in and around the park.

“As the search area expands, visitors may encounter search personnel wearing brightly colored shirts both on and off established trails,” the NPS advised. “Search teams may also be operating drones. Please note that while drones are prohibited in the national park, they are being used temporarily as part of the emergency response.”

Corrina Auten, Bachleda-Blaszczak’s cousin, told CBS affiliate WBBM that family spoke with him the night before he vanished.

“The day before, I believe, was when he had pizza with his dad, you know, chatted with him, said he might pick up a shift the next day at work,” Auten told the outlet. “It was very, you know, like a normal, normal conversation. There wasn’t anything strange or amiss. The next thing we knew, he didn’t show up for work and he was missing.”
