As 12-year-old Xavier Taylor continues his difficult recovery, his family is holding on to every encouraging sign.

His father says Xavier’s vital signs have remained stable as doctors and medical staff continue providing the care he needs.

Then came an unexpected moment of encouragement.

Phillies catcher Garrett Stubbs visited Xavier in the hospital — and brought something that meant far more than a baseball gift.

A signed bat.

For a young baseball fan fighting through an incredibly difficult chapter, it was a simple gesture with a powerful message:

You are still part of the baseball family.

For Xavier’s loved ones, moments like this matter.

They cannot erase what happened.

They cannot make the recovery happen overnight.

But they can bring a little light into an otherwise difficult day.

And sometimes, when a family is spending every hour hoping, praying and waiting for the next encouraging sign, a familiar face walking through the hospital door can mean more than words can say.
