A one-year-old donkey named HeeHaw was supposed to be a beloved family pet. Instead, he became the center of a heartbreaking police investigation after an officer fatally shot him while searching for a missing child in Georgia.

HeeHaw was only one year old.

According to Garner’s report, the young donkey began moving toward the officers.

Garner said the K-9 handler attempted to use a Taser.

It did not stop HeeHaw.

Garner then drew his department-issued Glock 17.

He fired a single round.

HeeHaw was struck.

The young donkey reportedly continued moving away before collapsing.

He died shortly afterward.

The missing 12-year-old girl was later found at a church near the pasture.

The search had ended.

For Hannah Israel, the official explanation does not match the animal she knew.

Israel has repeatedly described HeeHaw as an affectionate, people-loving donkey who had been raised around humans.

She said he would run toward people whenever he saw them.

“He thought he could talk like a person,” she told local media, recalling how HeeHaw would make noises whenever she spoke.

He was not simply livestock to the family.

He was her baby.

And the images shared by Israel after his death show just how personal the loss was.

She was photographed crying beside HeeHaw’s body.

She later shared video of him from just days before the incident — footage that shows the young donkey approaching her affectionately.

The contrast has made the story even more heartbreaking.

In the video, HeeHaw is alive, playful and eager to be near the person who raised him.

THE OWNER SAYS POLICE ENTERED WITHOUT WARNING

Israel has also strongly disputed the circumstances surrounding the incident.
