BABY S WAS BORN AT 37 WEEKS — THEN A SHOCKING COURTROOM DETAIL RAISED EVEN MORE QUESTIONS

A newborn baby girl was born in Sheffield at just 37 weeks.

Less than a day later, she would become the center of a major murder investigation.

The baby, known only as Baby S, was born on August 30, 2026. Her mother, Andrea Skopova, 20, later went to hospital, where medical staff recognized that she had recently given birth and alerted police.

What officers discovered would leave the community stunned.

THE BABY WAS FOUND DEAD

Police were called to a property in the Holywell Heights area of Wincobank, Sheffield, on the morning of August 30 following concerns about the safety of an infant.

Officers searched the property and found Baby S.

A forensic post-mortem examination later established that her cause of death was stab wounds.

At a subsequent court hearing, prosecutors said the newborn had suffered 33 injuries in 15 separate stabbings, with wounds to her face and torso, both front and back.

The court also heard that her body was found in an outbuilding on top of a washing machine.

THEN CAME THE FAMILY DETAIL

As prosecutors outlined the case, another detail emerged.

Baby S’s father is unknown.

And according to the prosecution, Skopova’s boyfriend, Peter Horvath Jr., 19, is not believed to be the baby’s father.

Horvath Jr. is nevertheless among those accused in connection with Baby S’s death.

He appeared in court alongside his parents, Peter Horvath Sr., 38, and Nina Horvathova, 37, as well as Skopova.

All four adults are charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice by allegedly taking steps to conceal the infant’s death.

A 15-year-old girl, who cannot legally be named, has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice.

FIVE PEOPLE IN CUSTODY

The four adults and the teenager have all been remanded in custody.

Two other women, aged 26 and 37, were previously arrested on suspicion of murder but remain on bail while the investigation continues.

Police have recovered potential evidence, including CCTV footage and a possible weapon, as detectives continue to piece together what happened inside the property.

South Yorkshire Police have urged members of the public not to speculate about the case or share information online that could interfere with the legal proceedings.

THE TRIAL IS STILL MONTHS AWAY

The four adults appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on September 3.

Judge Sarah Wright set the trial to begin on April 12, 2027, with proceedings expected to last between six and seven weeks.

The next hearing is scheduled for October 2.

The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

QUESTIONS THAT REMAIN

Baby S had only just entered the world.

She was born at 37 weeks.

Within hours, she was dead.

And now investigators must establish exactly what happened between those two moments — who was present, what each person knew, and how the newborn came to suffer such devastating injuries.
