POLICE UNCOVERED A SHOCKING DETAIL ABOUT THE 19-YEAR-OLD — BUT IT WASN’T THE SECRET MANY EXPECTED

The horrifying death of a newborn baby in Sheffield has left an entire community demanding answers.

Baby S, a newborn girl who had been born only hours earlier, was found dead at a property on Holywell Heights in Wincobank on August 30.

A forensic post-mortem later established that the infant died from stab wounds.

But as detectives began piecing together the final hours of the baby’s life, attention turned to four adults now accused of murder — including 19-year-old Peter Horvath Jr.

And one detail about Horvath Jr’s relationship with the baby’s mother has raised an especially troubling question.

THE BABY WAS FOUND ON A WASHING MACHINE

Police were initially called to the Sheffield property shortly after 5am on August 30 following concerns about the safety of a newborn.

Officers searched the property and discovered Baby S inside an outhouse.

The infant had reportedly been wrapped in a towel, placed inside a blue bag and left on top of a washing machine.

When the case reached court, prosecutors said the baby had suffered 33 injuries during 15 separate stabbings, including wounds to her face and the front and back of her torso.

A doctor concluded that she had been alive when the injuries were inflicted, the court heard.

The discovery triggered a major murder investigation.

Seven people were initially arrested.

Two were later released on bail, while five people ultimately faced charges.

FOUR ADULTS NOW FACE MURDER CHARGES

Among those charged are:

Andrea Skopova, 20 — identified as Baby S’s mother.

Peter Horvath Jr, 19 — Skopova’s boyfriend.

Peter Horvath Sr, 38 — Horvath Jr’s father.

Nina Horvathova, 37 — Horvath Jr’s mother.

All four have been charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice.

A 15-year-old girl has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice. Her identity is protected because of her age.

But prosecutors have made one particularly significant point about Peter Horvath Jr.

THE DETAIL ABOUT PETER HORVATH JR

According to the prosecution, Andrea Skopova was in a relationship with Horvath Jr.

But he is not believed to be Baby S’s father.

The identity of the baby’s biological father remains unknown.

That detail does not establish guilt or reveal a hidden identity. But it adds another unanswered question to an already deeply disturbing investigation:

Who knew about the pregnancy, who knew the baby had been born, and what happened inside the property before police arrived?

Those are questions that investigators and prosecutors will have to address through evidence presented in court.

THE INVESTIGATION IS FAR FROM OVER

Police have recovered what has been described as a potential weapon, while investigators have continued examining the property and gathering evidence.

Two other women, aged 26 and 37, were previously arrested on suspicion of murder but remain on bail as the investigation continues.

The five defendants have been remanded in custody.

Their trial is scheduled to begin on April 12, 2027, and is expected to last between six and seven weeks. Their next hearing is set for October 2, 2026.

ONE BABY — AND QUESTIONS THAT MAY TAKE MONTHS TO ANSWER

Baby S lived for only a matter of hours.

Now, the court will eventually have to determine what happened during those final moments — and what role, if any, each defendant played.

For now, the prosecution’s allegations remain allegations.

None of the defendants has been convicted, and all are entitled to a fair trial.

But one fact remains painfully clear: a newborn baby was found dead inside a Sheffield property, and investigators are still working to establish the full truth behind her final hours.
