WOMAN, 45, PLUNGES TO HER DEATH AFTER EX-BOYFRIEND ALLEGEDLY KIDNAPS HER AND THROWS HER FROM BRIDGE

A 45-year-old woman is dead after authorities say her former boyfriend allegedly abducted her from her home, drove her to a highway bridge and threw her to her death — before jumping himself.

Lorena Isceri, who worked in the veterinary sector, was allegedly taken from her home in Florence, Italy, on Thursday, Sept. 3, according to Italian media reports cited by PEOPLE and The Guardian.

Investigators believe Federico Vella, 38, had been waiting for Isceri to return home before allegedly abducting her.

He reportedly locked her inside the trunk of his car and drove away from the property.

But in a desperate attempt to get help, Isceri managed to use her cellphone to contact police.

According to reports, Vella allegedly took the phone from her before driving to the A1 highway.

The situation then turned deadly.

Authorities allege that Vella threw Isceri from a bridge. Highway Patrol officers arrived at the scene and reportedly found Vella on the bridge moments before he jumped to his death.

Investigators are still trying to determine exactly what happened to Isceri before she went over the bridge.

An autopsy has been ordered to establish whether she died before the fall or as a result of it.

HER MOTHER SAID SHE WAS AFRAID

In the aftermath, Isceri’s mother told SkyTG24 that she had previously spoken about the relationship and had been frightened.

“I last heard from her yesterday at 10:30 a.m. and she was calm,” her mother said, according to PEOPLE. “She had told me about this relationship; she was afraid, too afraid.”

The comments have added another disturbing layer to an investigation now being handled by Florence prosecutors and the city’s mobile police squad.

Vella had also publicly referenced the breakup weeks before Isceri’s death.

On Aug. 12, he posted a series of photographs and videos of the couple on Instagram alongside an emotional message about losing the woman he loved.

The post described his heartbreak following their separation.

Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the relationship and what happened in the weeks leading up to the deaths.

INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Florence prosecutor Antonio Natale and the Florence mobile squad are leading the investigation.

Authorities have not publicly established a motive, and the precise circumstances of Isceri’s death remain under investigation.

Her death has also drawn attention amid concerns over violence against women in Italy.

According to data cited by PEOPLE from the feminist alliance Non Una di Meno and The Guardian, 40 women had been killed in Italy as of Aug. 8, with seven — including Isceri — reported to have been killed by a current or former partner.

For now, investigators are left with a series of unanswered questions surrounding the final hours of Lorena Isceri’s life.

What happened inside that car? And was Lorena already dead before she was thrown from the bridge?
