The condition was extraordinarily rare and did not have an official name. Doctors classified it as a lymphomatous tumor, with one physician describing Jasmine’s case as among the most unusual she had encountered in nearly three decades of practice.

As Jasmine grew, so did the challenges.

She underwent multiple surgeries and tried different medications in an effort to control the growth. But nothing stopped her leg from becoming larger.

Eventually, the weight and size of the limb made walking impossible. Jasmine became dependent on a wheelchair and faced increasingly difficult limitations in her daily life.

Then, in 2025, a severe infection turned an already devastating medical condition into a life-threatening emergency.

Doctors at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital determined that removing Jasmine’s leg offered her the best chance of survival.

The surgery lasted nearly 17 hours.

It was an enormous physical and emotional challenge for a teenager who had spent most of her life fighting a condition doctors could barely explain.

But Jasmine kept moving forward.

On May 27, 2026, she reached a milestone that might once have seemed impossible. Jasmine crossed the stage at Braden River Middle School and graduated from eighth grade.

She didn’t simply receive her diploma. She also gave a speech, reflecting on the uncertainty she had faced.

“I thought I wasn’t going to make it,” she told the crowd.

Yet she did.

Now, Jasmine is preparing for another new chapter: high school.

Despite everything she has endured, her ambitions extend far beyond hospitals, surgeries and recovery. She wants to study theater and pursue her dream of performing on Broadway.
