8-Year-Old Camp Mystic Flood Victim Eloise “Lulu” Peck to Be Honored as 2026 ASPCA Kid of the Year

Eloise “Lulu” Peck, 8, was among the 27 victims who lost their lives at Camp Mystic during the devastating floods that swept through Texas Hill Country in July 2025.

Remembered for her extraordinary love of animals, Lulu showed compassion not only toward family pets but also toward the creatures she encountered around her. Her loved ones say she had a special tenderness for animals and always treated them with remarkable gentleness and care.

In early September 2026, the ASPCA announced that Lulu would be posthumously honored as its 2026 Kid of the Year at the Humane Awards, recognizing the values of kindness and compassion she represented during her short but meaningful life.

Following her death, Lulu’s family established the Living for Lulu Foundation, an organization dedicated to carrying forward the causes that mattered deeply to her. The foundation supports groups working to improve the lives of children and animals, reflecting Lulu’s enduring love for both.

Her family will accept the honor on her behalf at the 2026 Humane Awards, scheduled for October 8 at The Plaza in New York City.
