TWO CHILDREN RUSHED TO HOSPITAL AFTER FAIRGROUND RIDE MALFUNCTION — WOMAN ALSO INJURED

A night of family fun at a popular South Yorkshire fairground suddenly turned into chaos after three people, including two children, were injured on a ride.

What was supposed to be an evening of fun at a fairground in Rotherham ended with emergency crews rushing to the scene after three people were injured on a ride.

Two children, aged 11 and 13, along with a 21-year-old woman, were taken to hospital following the incident at Maltby Crags Fair in Maltby, South Yorkshire, on Friday evening, September 11.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed that all three were injured while on a fairground ride and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The fairground was subsequently closed for the evening as emergency services dealt with the situation.

EMERGENCY SERVICES RUSH TO THE FAIR

Emergency services were called to the fair at around 6:50 p.m., with reports of an incident involving a ride.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service sent two ambulances and three rapid response vehicles to the scene.

The two injured children were taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, according to the ambulance service.

Police also attended in large numbers, with reports of at least six police vehicles at the fairground.

Blyth Lane was temporarily closed between Muglet Lane and Victoria Road to allow visitors to leave the area safely.

The road was later reopened.

WHAT HAPPENED ON THE RIDE?

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been officially confirmed.

However, witnesses posting on social media claimed that a ride vehicle came off its track and collided with another vehicle.

One local resident reportedly described seeing a car come off the track before another crashed into it.

There were also claims that several riders fell from the attraction.

However, authorities have not publicly confirmed those details, and the specific ride involved has not yet been officially identified.

THREE PEOPLE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

South Yorkshire Police said the three injured people were taken to hospital for treatment.

At the time of reporting, the full extent of their injuries had not been publicly disclosed.

The two children were transported to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, while the 21-year-old woman was also taken for medical treatment.

There were no reports from police that anyone had suffered life-threatening injuries.

Maltby Crags Funfair, presented by J Holmes & Sons, had been operating in Maltby since September 9.

The event was scheduled to continue throughout the weekend, with opening hours reportedly running from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Following Friday night’s incident, however, it remained unclear whether the fair would reopen as planned.

The sudden closure left visitors being escorted away from the area while emergency services worked at the scene.

For families who had brought their children to the fair for an ordinary Friday night out, the incident was an unexpected shock.
