A newborn baby girl was found dead at a property in Sheffield — and the investigation has now led to four adults being charged with murder.
The shocking case began on August 30, 2026, when South Yorkshire Police responded to concerns about the safety of an infant at a property on Holywell Heights in the Wincobank area of Sheffield.
Officers made a devastating discovery.
A forensic post-mortem later established that the newborn’s cause of death was stab wounds, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The baby has been referred to in court as Baby S.
FOUR ADULTS FACE MURDER CHARGES
Among those charged are:
- Andrea Skopova, 20
- Peter Horvath Jr, 19
- Peter Horvath Sr, 38
- Nina Horvathova, 37
All four have been charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice.
The CPS says the latter allegation relates to steps allegedly taken to conceal the killing of an infant.
A 15-year-old girl has also been charged with perverting the course of justice. Because of her age, she cannot legally be named.
THE BABY’S FAMILY RAISES ANOTHER QUESTION
Andrea Skopova is identified as Baby S’s mother.
Peter Horvath Jr is described as Skopova’s boyfriend — but prosecutors have said he is not believed to be the baby’s biological father.
