Boy, 12, Injured When His Arm Gets Caught on Door Handle During Game of Tag

12-Year-Old Boy’s Hand Pierced by Door Handle in Freak Accident at Friend’s House
A 12-year-old boy suffered a terrifying hand injury after a door handle pierced his hand and left him trapped for about an hour.
Ollie Davey was playing tag at a friend’s house on August 11, 2026, when the frightening accident happened.
According to his family, a friend suddenly slammed a door shut. Ollie instinctively put out his hand to prevent the door from hitting him, but the move had devastating consequences.

His left hand was pierced by the door handle and became trapped, leaving him unable to free himself.
Paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene and worked for approximately an hour to safely rescue the boy from the door.
Ollie was then taken to The Grange University Hospital, where doctors initially feared that the injury may have caused damage to his tendons.
After examining the wound, however, doctors determined that Ollie would only need surgery to clean the injury and stitch the wound.
He subsequently spent a week taking antibiotics while recovering from the unusual injury.

Thankfully, Ollie’s recovery went well. After treatment, he was able to return to the activities he loves, including cycling and playing football.
What began as an ordinary afternoon of playing tag quickly turned into a frightening medical emergency, but Ollie’s successful recovery has given his family plenty to be thankful for.
Today, the 12-year-old is back on his bike and playing football again—leaving behind an extraordinary accident that could have had far more serious consequences.
