11-Month-Old Kentucky Boy Found Dead After Being Reported Missing

An 11-month-old Kentucky boy who was reported missing has been found dead inside a residence in Muhlenberg County, authorities said.

Grayson Walton was reported missing by his family in the Cleaton area of Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.

According to police, investigators determined that the infant was believed to have been in the care of 19-year-old Elijah Mayes while Grayson’s father was at work.

Mayes initially told investigators that a family friend had picked up the baby on Friday evening. However, police said the person he identified denied ever picking up Grayson.

The investigation took another turn when a relative reported seeing Grayson with Mayes at a residence on Hillview Street.

Police subsequently searched the home and discovered Grayson deceased inside the residence.

Mayes was arrested in connection with the investigation. He faces multiple charges, including murder, first-degree criminal abuse, tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse and possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities also reported finding a substance suspected to be methamphetamine at a location searched during the investigation.

The charges are allegations, and Mayes is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The circumstances surrounding Grayson’s death, including what happened to the infant before he was found, remain under investigation. Authorities have not yet established a final cause or manner of death based on the information provided.
