9-Year-Old Boy With Rare Skin Disorder Asks for Prayers During His Toughest Summer

Jamison Stam, 9, of Mead, Washington, was born with Harlequin ichthyosis, a rare condition that causes the skin to become extremely thick and fragile. Doctors once feared he would not survive infancy, but Jamison has fought through nine years of unimaginable challenges.

This summer became especially difficult. His pain became too severe for his medications to control, while he was also battling two bacterial infections. In a heartbreaking video, Jamison spoke openly about spending the entire summer in the hospital and how unhappy and overwhelmed he felt.

Jamison is now stable and back home, but his family is preparing for a major meeting with specialists, hospice and palliative-care teams to determine thebest path forward. His mother, Alicia, says it has been the hardest experience they have ever faced.

Jamison asked people to pray for him. Please keep this brave little boy and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
