Kentucky Baby, 10 Months Old, Dies After Grandmother Allegedly Forgot Her in Hot Car for Hours

A 10-month-old Kentucky baby, Scottie Crowell, died after reportedly being left inside a hot vehicle for approximately eight hours in Madisonville.

The incident occurred on August 13, 2026. According to police, Scottie’s grandmother, Stacey Fazenbaker, had picked up the infant and intended to take her to daycare. Instead, she reportedly drove to work and forgot that the baby was still in the back seat.

Fazenbaker, who is a physician, arrived at work at around 8 a.m. The infant was not discovered inside the vehicle until approximately 4 p.m.

Outdoor temperatures that day reportedly reached between 92°F and 95°F (33–35°C). A weather sensor indicated that temperatures inside the vehicle may have climbed to approximately 115°F (46°C).

An autopsy has been conducted, but final results have not yet been released. As of the latest reports, no criminal charges had been filed. Police and Kentucky Child Protective Services are investigating, and the case is expected to be presented to a grand jury.

The circumstances remain under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause of Scottie’s death and whether charges will be filed.
