A MIRACLE OF DETERMINATION: VICTORIA’S FIRST STEPS
A MIRACLE OF DETERMINATION: VICTORIA’S FIRST STEPS
When Victoria Komada was born with an extremely rare condition known as bilateral tibial hemimelia, her family faced a heartbreaking reality. The severe birth defect left her with one shinbone completely missing and the other critically shortened, causing both of her legs to be bent backwards. Medical professionals initially believed that amputating both legs was her only viable path toward mobility.

Unwilling to accept that fate without a fight, Victoria’s family refused to give up hope. Launching an intense fundraising campaign, they rallied incredible support from generous communities across Norwich and Poland. Together, they raised £180,000 to send Victoria to Florida for specialized, highly complex orthopedic surgeries designed to rebuild her legs instead of removing them.

Through grueling operations, intensive physical rehabilitation, and endless courage, Victoria achieved what once seemed impossible. She began standing and taking her very first steps on her own two feet, transforming a devastating diagnosis into an inspiring story of resilience and community generosity.
