BEVERLEY CALLARD SHARES NEW HEALTH UPDATE AMID CANCER BATTLE: ‘IT’S NOT GREAT NEWS’

Beverley Callard has shared an emotional health update with fans after doctors discovered severe inflammation in the upper part of her stomach during further tests amid her ongoing breast cancer treatment.

The 69-year-old actress, best known for playing Liz McDonald in Coronation Street, has been undergoing treatment since being diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.

In her latest update, Callard revealed that she had undergone an endoscopy and gastroscopy after experiencing persistent nausea.

Doctors told her that her oesophagus appeared to be clear, but tests showed that the upper part of her stomach was “really, badly inflamed.” Several biopsies were taken so specialists could investigate the cause of the inflammation.

‘IT’S NOT GREAT NEWS’

Speaking to her followers in an Instagram video, Callard explained that she had not yet received all of her results.

She said the hospital team had taken multiple tissue samples and explained that biopsy results can sometimes take many weeks.

However, she was told that her results would be sent to her surgeon and oncologist, with Callard expecting to learn more within approximately a week.

Callard described the latest development as “not great news”, but also said she was relieved to finally have a possible explanation for the nausea that had been troubling her.

She had previously spoken about feeling increasingly unwell during her recovery and about the difficulty of dealing with persistent nausea while continuing to work.

‘AT LEAST I KNOW THERE’S A REASON’

Despite her concerns, Callard tried to remain positive while speaking to fans.

She explained that knowing her stomach was badly inflamed at least gave her an indication that the nausea was not simply something she had to tolerate without explanation.

Her latest update did not announce that her breast cancer had spread or that the stomach inflammation was cancerous. The cause of the inflammation remains unknown until the biopsy results are reviewed by her medical team.

Callard also joked about struggling to remember the details of her recent hospital appointments, describing herself as feeling “brain dead” while recounting the procedures.

She praised the hospital staff who had cared for her and thanked supporters who have continued to follow her journey.

A DIFFICULT YEAR FOR THE ACTRESS

Callard announced her breast cancer diagnosis earlier in 2026 and has regularly shared updates about her treatment with fans.

She underwent surgery and later completed 10 sessions of radiotherapy. In July, she announced that she had finished her final radiotherapy session, although she made clear that further medical appointments and monitoring would follow.

In recent weeks, she had also revealed that persistent nausea and exhaustion were making recovery difficult.

Earlier in September, she said doctors wanted her to undergo additional scans and see a gastroenterologist because “something’s not quite right.” She also acknowledged that she had been pushing herself too hard and had been advised to rest more.

The latest hospital tests were part of those continuing investigations.

For now, Callard is waiting for her biopsy results and for her surgeon and oncologist to review the findings.

She has continued to keep fans updated throughout her treatment, even when the news has been difficult.

While the discovery of severe stomach inflammation has added another concern to an already challenging period, there is currently no confirmed explanation for the inflammation and no evidence in the latest update that it represents a spread of her breast cancer.

Callard ended her message by saying she was feeling frustrated and wanted to get back to normal life.
