The search for 3-year-old Noah Woods ended in heartbreak.

Now, his father is speaking directly to the thousands of people who refused to stop looking for his little boy.

Rhys Woods said there were “no words to describe the pain of this loss” and thanked the people who came from Brantham and much farther away to help search for Noah.

Noah disappeared on Tuesday, September 15, after becoming separated from a relative near the playground on Merriam Close.

A huge search operation followed.

More than 1,300 members of the public joined police officers, firefighters, coastguards, specialist search teams, dog units and divers in the effort to find him.

But on Wednesday, September 16, specialist Metropolitan Police divers recovered the body of a child from Decoy Pond.

Police formally identified the child as Noah the following day.

“THE SWEETEST AND MOST INNOCENT LITTLE BOY”

In a heartbreaking message, Rhys remembered his son as “the sweetest and most innocent little boy with nothing but love to give.”

He said the family was devastated and would miss Noah “so so much.”

He also thanked everyone who searched for his son, saying the compassion shown by the community brought the family comfort and strength during the darkest time of their lives.

The family had spent the search hoping for a different ending.

Rhys said they kept telling themselves that Noah might be hiding somewhere obvious and that someone would eventually find him safe.

That hope ended when the body was recovered from the pond.

A VILLAGE NOW IN MOURNING

Brantham has been left grieving alongside Noah’s family.

Flowers, candles, teddy bears and Bluey-themed toys have been placed near the playground where Noah was last seen.

A book of condolence was also opened at the village leisure centre, which became a place for residents to gather and support one another.

The response from the community has been described by local officials as extraordinary.

People searched the surrounding fields and woodland, while others helped coordinate volunteers, provide food and drinks, manage traffic and support the emergency services.

Suffolk Police said they had been overwhelmed by the public response.

“NOAH, YOU WILL BE LOVED FOREVER”

Rhys ended his tribute with a message directly to his son.

“Noah, you will be loved forever, you will never be forgotten and we miss you so so much.”

He said it had been a privilege to be Noah’s parents and to have packed so much love into the three years they had with him.

For a community that spent more than 24 hours searching for a missing little boy, the outcome has been devastating.

But Noah’s father wants those who searched to know that their efforts mattered.

They may not have been able to bring Noah home safely.

But they stood beside his family when they needed the world to stand with them.

THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

Suffolk Police have said Noah’s death is not being treated as suspicious, although officers still have enquiries to complete before submitting a file to the coroner.

For now, Brantham is mourning a little boy whose disappearance brought thousands of strangers together.

And Noah’s family is facing the unimaginable task of saying goodbye.

Three years old.

Loved by his family.

Remembered by an entire community.
