“WE’VE GOT A BIGGER CHALLENGE GOING FORWARD…” — FARMER RUTH SPEAKS OUT AS HUSBAND DAVE BATTLES CANCER
Farmer Ruth from Cannon Hall Farm has broken her silence about the heartbreaking situation facing her family, thanking thousands of people who have sent messages and donations following her husband Dave’s cancer diagnosis.
For Ruth, the overwhelming response has been emotional — but she admits the family still faces an incredibly difficult road ahead.
“IT’S BEEN VERY HUMBLING”
In a heartfelt message to supporters, Ruth thanked everyone who had reached out to her, donated to the family fundraiser or simply taken the time to send a message.
She described the response as “very humbling.”
But alongside her gratitude came a quiet acknowledgement of just how difficult the months ahead could be.
“We’ve got a bigger challenge going forward, but we’ll carry on,” Ruth said.
Those words have resonated with many people who have followed Ruth and her family through Cannon Hall Farm over the years.
DAVE’S DEVASTATING DIAGNOSIS
Ruth’s husband, Dave, has been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer and is currently undergoing intensive treatment.
According to the family’s fundraising appeal, his treatment includes daily chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Ruth and Dave have two sons, and the family is now trying to navigate treatment while spending as much precious time together as possible.
The family has kept many of the medical details private, choosing instead to focus publicly on gratitude, family and the support surrounding them.
THOUSANDS HAVE RALLIED AROUND THE FAMILY
A fundraising campaign was launched in July to help Ruth, Dave and their children during this incredibly difficult period.
The appeal was created so the family could use the money in whatever way would help them most, easing some of the additional pressures they are facing and allowing them to concentrate on being together and making memories.
The latest available figure shows £19,843 raised from 1,021 donations, toward a £24,000 target.
For some donors, Ruth is someone they have met at Cannon Hall Farm.
For others, she is a familiar face they have come to know through the farm’s videos, social media and television appearances.
But the message from supporters has been the same: they are standing behind the family.
A FAMILY TAKING THINGS ONE DAY AT A TIME
The public response has clearly meant a great deal to Ruth.
Yet behind the messages, donations and public attention is a family dealing with something deeply personal.
Dave continues treatment while Ruth and their sons try to make the most of their time together.
Ruth has not offered a detailed public update on her husband’s prognosis beyond what has already been shared through the fundraising appeal.
Instead, her message has focused on appreciation — and determination.
“WE’LL CARRY ON”
There may be no easy words for what Ruth and her family are facing.
But her latest message was remarkably simple.
“We’ll carry on.”
For now, that appears to be the family’s approach: supporting Dave through treatment, staying together and taking each day as it comes.
And surrounding them is a community that has made one thing clear — they have not been forgotten.
