Three-year-old Noah Woods brought laughter, warmth and joy to the people around him. After his disappearance sparked a huge search involving around 1,300 members of the public, his family is asking everyone to cherish the little moments that matter most.

The family of three-year-old Noah Woods has shared an emotional tribute following the tragedy that devastated their family and deeply affected the village of Brantham, Suffolk.

Noah went missing on the afternoon of September 15, 2026, after visiting a playground in Merriam Close with a relative. The search that followed brought together emergency services, specialist teams and around 1,300 members of the public, all hoping the little boy would be found safe.

Sadly, police divers recovered a child’s body from nearby Decoy Pond the following day. The child was later formally identified as Noah.

In their tribute, Noah’s family remembered him as a “happy, cheeky, playful three-year-old boy” who loved to laugh and giggle.

They said he was at the centre of their world, sharing a home with his mummy, daddy and baby brother.

Noah was undergoing an assessment for autism and had mild hearing loss and delayed speech. His family said he had been learning every day and had only recently begun finding and using his voice.

One of the things they said they would miss most was the special sound of his voice — something they described as unique and wonderful.

They also spoke about the close bond Noah shared with his baby brother. He loved spending time with him, entertaining him and making him laugh, always wanting to be nearby.

At the opening of an inquest at Suffolk Coroner’s Court on September 25, the hearing was told that CCTV footage showed Noah playing at the under-fives area before he left through a gap in the playground fence.

He then entered a memorial garden and passed through an open gate, heading towards the nearby pond. A relative tried to follow him but eventually lost sight of him.

The search involved police officers, emergency services, specialist search teams and volunteers from across the community. After an extensive operation, Metropolitan Police dive teams found Noah in Decoy Pond on September 16.

Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious. The cause of death remained under investigation, and the inquest was adjourned for further proceedings.
