A BROTHERHOOD THAT ENDURES: FIRE HERO’S LEGACY AT DAUGHTER’S WEDDING

When Kristin Marino stepped outside the Plaza Hotel in her stunning wedding dress, she was greeted by nine firefighters and two fire trucks waiting for her. Her late father, Kenneth Marino, had served as a brave firefighter with FDNY Rescue Company 1 before sacrificing his life during the September 11 attacks in 2001. Kristin was only three years old when her father died, leaving behind a legacy of immense bravery that his fellow firefighters refused to let fade.

Nearly 24 years later, on August 27, 2025, Kristin prepared to marry singer Noah Schnacky in New York City. Understanding the deep absence of her father on such an important day, current and retired members of Rescue 1 gathered to honor his memory. Seeing the men lined up in tribute brought Kristin to tears of gratitude. The firefighters escorted her from the hotel to Rockefeller Center’s 620 Loft & Garden for the ceremony, sharing the emotional journey alongside her mother, Katrina, and younger brother, Tyler.

For Kristin, their surprise presence felt like a powerful way of having her father walk beside her. At the ceremony, Kenneth’s uniform rested on a reserved seat to honor his spirit, while Kristin’s grandfather proudly walked her down the aisle. Reflecting on the emotional day, Kristin shared that she finally understood the true depth of the firefighter brotherhood. Almost a quarter of a century after Kenneth’s ultimate sacrifice, the men of Rescue 1 proved that the bond of family and service lasts forever.
